No matter what situation Lennie gets himself into, George will always be there to help Lennie.  Lennie always means well, but all the facts sometimes aren’t produced in his words.  Instead of telling a little girl he liked her dress, he automatically went up and stroked the fabric scaring the girl. This resulted in George’s quick decision to flee Weed, basically saved Lennie’s life.  Not only is George there to solve problems he is also there to prevent problems.  When Lennie doesn’t remember that George has his work card he is frantic because he thinks he lost it.  With Lennie being very forgetful and disorganized, he doesn’t know what he has or doesn’t have, but he has George to make sure everythings in check.  Lennie looks up to George and is his anchor in life.

I didn't quite like Carlson as a character when he was first introduced.  He didn't like Candy's dog because he was useless  and was no use on the farm and he thought the old dog was better off dead.  I thought that was mean and not very nice of him because its just an animal.  However, there was some practicalness behind it.  He thought he could give Candy a new pup on that was better for the farm.  So he is not too bad of a person so far in the book.
